Always Meant to Destroy One Another

In the aftermath of a brutal battle, Tessa stands over a bleeding Theon with a gold dagger while Tristyn lies bound by her light and Luka is magically caged. Theon and Tristyn warn that killing Theon will fulfill a prophecy and serve their enemies’ designs, but Tessa, feeling betrayed and abandoned, refuses to yield.

Tessa accuses them of half-truths and self-serving motives, citing losses—Corbin, Lange, Auryon, and Cienna—and the disappearances of Axel and Katya.
