Overview
Axel confronts Tessa in the Acropolis and learns she has vowed to destroy the Arius bloodline, severing hopes of her help. He returns to Katya, faces her fury over his abandonment, and confesses his fear of the curse. They reconcile and decide to leave together for the Underground.
Summary
Axel waits on the Acropolis outskirts and follows the pull of his Tracking Mark to a restaurant where Tessa dines with Dex and others. He hacks the sound system to lure Tessa away and ambushes her in a restroom. Their reunion turns confrontational when Axel realizes Tessa never used the Tracking Mark to find him while he was missing.
Tessa admits she only passed information from torturing Arius and reveals a chilling vow to destroy the Arius bloodline. When Axel asks for help for Katya, Tessa’s indifference convinces him to leave. He departs without aiding her mission, prioritizing Katya’s safety.
Axel returns to Katya, hastily packing her belongings before she arrives. Katya confronts him for abandoning her after confessing their twin flame bond and pregnancy, scorching his chest in anger. Axel explains he fled after learning he triggered the curse and feared harming her again.
Through raw apologies, Axel reframes love as protection but promises to learn a different way—choosing her even if the bond fades. Katya breaks, admitting life without him felt like dying, and they reconcile in an intimate, affirming kiss.
Axel proposes taking Katya to the Underground, the only place he believes he can keep her and their unborn child safe while he stabilizes. After ensuring he will not leave her again, Katya agrees. They plan to portal out and begin the journey together, choosing each other despite the darkness ahead.
