Summary
Theon arrives at the Sirana Gala with Luka, agreeing to claim Axel is handling Underground matters to maintain appearances. At their table, Theon is blindsided by Felicity Davers, his Match, seated with Cressida. While navigating political greetings, including the Serafina Lady, Theon chafes under expectation and Felicity’s constant touch.
The room’s energy shifts when Tessa enters on Liam Vance’s arm. Luka, warned by Tristyn, braces Theon as a Sirana Legacy announces Match Contracts. After Theon’s existing contract is noted, the Legacy reveals a near Match between Tessa and Liam. Tessa’s power flares as she restrains herself; Theon and Luka urge calm over the bond. Felicity hints she has seen Tessa and Liam together, fueling Theon’s doubts, while Cressida urges him to focus on politics and finding his brother.
During dinner, Rordan outlines rebuilding measures, and Theon avoids looking at Tessa. Tradition forces newly announced pairs to open the dancing. Felicity presses for guidance as a perfect, compliant Match, which only underscores Theon’s longing for Tessa’s untamed spirit. Tristyn diverts Felicity to dance, and Theon intercepts Tessa, drawing her into a dance charged with bond-ache and conflicting loyalties.
On the floor, Theon questions whether Tessa’s contract is voluntary; Tessa deflects by paralleling his Match with Felicity and asks to avoid a fight. They briefly soften, and Theon pleads for her to come home. Cressida cuts in, warning Theon to stay away and to be ready to move on once the bond issue is “fixed.”
As the auction approaches, Theon sees Tessa slip out a side door and follows to a secluded alcove. There, Tessa—tear-streaked—whispers they are meant to destroy each other, and Theon answers: “Then destroy me, little storm,” crystallizing their unresolved, volatile bond.
