Overview
Brecken guides Tessa through secret tunnels to the Hybrid Villas, where she uncovers records of a Legacy-run breeding program exploiting Fae and hybrids. Confronting administrator Darius, Tessa reveals her power and executes him, then captures and kills Arlo. She restrains wider vengeance, delaying a Hunter-led purge for two days to protect innocents.
The chapter cements Tessa’s autonomy, exposes systemic abuse, and sets a countdown to a major strike, testing alliances and control over her volatile magic.
Summary
Tessa follows Brecken through hidden passages beneath Sirana Villas, battling rising panic as Luka and Theon offer aid over the bond. Rejecting their claims of belonging, Tessa shuts them out and emerges behind the manor, where windowless twin villas hint at deeper secrets.
Inside, Brecken forces a tense reset of power between them. Posing as a new capture, they pass a hungry Legacy named Arlo and slip into an office. Tessa hacks a tablet labeled Hybrid and discovers records proving a system that breeds Fae and hybrids with Legacy pairings, disposes of some children, and allocates others to Estates. Entries include Eviana placed as Arius’s Source and Lange Castellon claimed by the Arius Kingdom.
Administrator Darius arrives. Brecken covers with a false backstory, but when Darius probes, Tessa reveals her power. She overpowers him, strips his magic, extracts that “Desiray” has final say in pairings, then kills Darius with her golden sword.
Tessa summons a Hunter to arm herself and considers unleashing them to massacre full-blooded Legacy. Brecken warns that innocents would be imperiled and the captives have nowhere to go. Torn, Tessa orders the Hunter to fetch Arlo and vows to wait two days before a purge, demanding Brecken secure refuge for the Fae.
When Arlo is delivered, Tessa forgoes magic, maims him for his earlier assault, forces answers about his role, and executes him. Blood-soaked and charged by the taking, she warns Brecken against betrayal, portals them back to Faven, then, still restless, opens another portal to continue her course.
