3. Tessa

Tessa wanders the Acropolis with Roan after fleeing the Tribunal, pausing at the central fountain of the six kingdoms. She collides with a cloaked, feminine figure she recognizes as a Keeper—contradicting her prior encounter with a male Keeper. The woman warns Tessa she stands between salvation and destruction, suggests a he will only answer once Tessa declares her stance, then Travels away. Tessa infers there are multiple Keepers and that Theon has likely rescinded Cienna’s banishment.

Summoning a Hunter, Tessa arms herself and strides into the Pantheon, scattering guards with restrained menace. In the restricted halls, she finds two priestesses with a reluctant male Fae; despite the Hunter noting they are Zinta Legacy, she kills the priestesses, frees the Fae, and compels him to guide her as deep as he can. After he departs, she and the Hunter descend into deserted passages. The underground triggers her panic, opening the bond: Luka urges a meeting while Theon remains silent but present; Tessa shuts them out and continues.

They reach a circular chamber containing a towering, symbol-etched “mirror.” At the Hunter’s cue—“Blood calls to blood”—Tessa bleeds onto the Achaz symbol. Power stirs; shifting images blur until Achaz manifests in radiant light. He praises the Hunter and challenges Tessa’s defiance. Through tense exchange, Achaz asserts her purpose is to correct the balance; Tessa states this means eradicating Arius’s line, which he affirms. He claims arrangements exist to counter any overcorrection and denies her access to divine dealings.

Pressing for identity of her mother, Tessa betrays her desire for lineage answers. Achaz calls her “granddaughter,” confirming her bloodline, and promises to bring her to her mother if she fulfills her destiny. He hints she can leave the realm, though he cannot yet enter it, and instructs her to find him again once her purpose is complete before vanishing.

Left seething but resolute, Tessa withdraws from the Pantheon, rejoining Roan. She commits to fulfilling her purpose, amassing leverage, and correcting the balance—accepting that she now plays in the gods’ arena where failure means death.
