Summary
Flight Officer Albert Shook orders an evacuation, sending passengers barefoot down the inflatable ramp and leaving baggage behind. Allie leads, with Robin helping the dazed Van. The Pinets follow, Gregg supporting his injured father, Raymond, who bleeds from a cut above his eye.
Outside, in the wet, fish‑scented Greenland night, Allie turns back to the 747. Three long, ragged slashes score the starboard fuselage, angling across the shattered window torn open during the crisis. The porthole is packed with a scorched wad, and oily spray marks remain from Horation Matthews’s fatal ejection and decapitation.
Robin voices stunned disbelief, but Raymond Pinet pointedly rejects invoking God, standing with Gregg while taking in the damage. No one tells Raymond he was struck earlier by Robin’s bottle in the struggle, leaving him unclear about his injury.
