Summary
Harlow sprints from Havenwood after stabbing Henry, expecting pursuit. In the woods she realizes it’s hunt night and, conspicuous in a white dress, becomes potential prey. Henry intercepts her, revealing he survived the stab and warning that a bite would bind her to him.
Despite Harlow’s fury and defiance, mutual desire escalates. Henry offers an out but, after Harlow refuses to stop, initiates sex as part of a claiming rite. He bites her at climax, drinking just enough blood to seal the bond, while onlookers from the hunt observe.
The encounter intensifies as Henry alternates between feeding and healing, pushing Harlow to surrender while keeping her alive, demonstrating knowledge of her limits. Harlow experiences the claiming’s aphrodisiac pull and conflicting emotions—hatred, fear, and desire—while recognizing Henry’s Deathless nature and control.
Afterward, Henry warns the watchers that Harlow is his claimed and threatens consequences for any disrespect.
