Overview
Grim walks into Isla’s trap on the bridge and engages Oro in a devastating duel that spans sky and sea. Grim outmaneuvers Oro by portaling him into his own lightning, leaving Oro badly hurt. Forced to decide, Isla follows Remlar’s guidance, seizes their bond, and takes Grim’s power, altering the war’s balance.
Summary
Grim arrives armored at the bridge, fully aware it is a trap, declaring his devotion to Isla despite the danger. Oro lands to protect Isla, and Grim immediately attacks. Their powers collide—fire, water, energy, and shadow—shaking the bridge as Isla watches, shielded by Grim’s shadows that curve around her.
The duel escalates from ground to sky. Oro binds Grim with sea-ice and scorches him, but Grim portals free. They trade conjured weapons and beasts—serpentine water against shadow-wolf—matching each other’s strength. Oro gathers his might and unleashes lightning.
In a split-second reversal, Grim portals Oro into the lightning’s path. Oro is struck by his own attack and crashes onto the bridge, dazed and injured. Grim lands between Isla and Oro and presses the assault as Oro struggles to hold a weakening shield of fire, wind, and energy.
Confronted with the oracle’s ultimatum—choose Oro or Grim—Isla battles her own past warnings while the men clash inches away. Seeing Oro about to fail, Isla resolves to act. Following Remlar’s instructions, she reaches for the intimate link binding her to Grim, threading through their shared memories.
With tears and certainty, Isla grips the bond and pulls. She seizes Grim’s power through the connection, sacrificing their history to tip the battle’s scale and redefine the fate the oracle foretold.
