Overview
With the battle raging and Skylings dying, Isla confronts an impossible choice. Grim promises to stop the attack if she goes with him; Oro refuses. Isla chooses to take Grim’s hand, declaring love for both men, and allows Grim to take Lynx. The decision pivots the war and her loyalties.
Summary
As the battle intensifies, screeches of arriving dreks and a rain of arrows fill the sky. Isla watches in horror as Skylings are overwhelmed and fall, the carnage triggering memories of her own past devastation. A prophecy—“You will kill one of them”—presses on Isla, forcing a decision.
Seeking to end the slaughter, Isla asks both leaders whether her surrender would stop the attack. Oro, stricken, refuses. Grim immediately agrees and extends his hand, just as he has in their shared past. Recognizing her kinship with Grim’s darkness and desperate to halt more deaths, Isla reaches for Grim.
Before Grim portals them away, Isla turns to Oro and confesses, “I love you,” then adds that she loves Grim too—truth Grim senses. Grim assures Lynx will come, and Isla watches her leopard vanish. Isla takes Grim’s hand, committing to leave with him as the battlefield chaos rages.
