Revelations
Overview
Isla remembers a clue about a powerful sword tied to Grim and pushes Oro to research it, while recruiting Wildlings and healers for war. After failing to open the Wildling vault and foreseeing drek attacks, she joins Oro’s war council to plan defenses as Skylings threaten to withdraw. Despite Oro’s warning, Isla contemplates recruiting the Vinderland, and training with Remlar reveals she can convert death into life.
Summary
Isla tells Oro she remembered a sword Grim wants, possibly the weapon the oracle warned about. Oro orders a realm-wide search of records, but Isla knows the true answers lie in her lost memories. She asks Wildlings to choose whether to fight, explains Lightlark’s fall would doom them too, and many volunteer; others are tasked with producing scarce healing elixir.
Seeking acceptance and answers, Isla visits Lynx and then attempts to open the Wildling vault by deepening her connection, but the door remains shut. A vivid flash of her vision adds a new detail—dreks—and she informs Oro. He reveals a special ore once forged by Sunling and Starling power can pierce drek hides; existing weapons are gone, so they must find new ore.
Oro introduces his trusted circle—Enya, Calder, and Zed—and they convene a war council. Isla openly acknowledges being Nightshade; tension eases as planning begins. They coordinate Sunling legions, Wildling terrain traps, and hope for a Starling shield while Zed and Enya pursue the rare ore for Skyling arrows. Grim’s portaling means the enemy can strike anywhere, raising the stakes.
Azul arrives with dire news: Skylings may vote to leave Lightlark. The council recognizes losing the flight force could doom them against winged beasts. With allies exhausted, Isla suggests recruiting former enemies, the Vinderland; Oro objects, but Enya privately offers to support Isla if she tries.
To unlock memories and control her darkness, Isla trains with Remlar. He orders her to drain an ancient kingwood; torn between Wildling duty and necessity, she leeches its life with Nightshade power, then, overflowing with energy, erupts new saplings—proving she uniquely turns death into life.
