Isla and King Oro travel to a rapidly thawing Moon Isle, finding the oracle weakened and the other two long-frozen sisters gone. The oracle admits Cleo wounded her but left her alive to deliver vital truths: Isla’s memories contain why the enemy is coming, their weapon, and how to stop them; failure means Lightlark’s fall. She confirms Isla’s destructive vision is real and stresses the vault’s immense importance, promising a final prophecy if Isla returns alone before Nightshade arrives.

Back in their chambers, Isla confesses she fears remembering because her regained fragments only show pain and hatred for Grim. Oro comforts her, insisting she not judge her past self. After he sleeps, Isla writes herself a stark note—“You hate him,” repeated—to anchor her resolve regardless of what resurfaces.

Deciding speed is essential, Isla portals to Remlar to accelerate memory recovery by strengthening her Nightshade powers. Remlar explains that only growing her own Nightshade ability can erode the veil on her memories. He instructs her to summon shadows.

After intense focus, Isla grasps the power momentarily; everything her hand touches dies, leaving a sizzling, blackened imprint. Before Remlar can respond, the scene abruptly shifts, and Isla realizes she is no longer in the Sky Isle woods, leaving her sudden relocation unexplained.
