Chapter 91

In the shattered council hall, Nismera’s forces pour through portals as Samkiel lies weakened and bound by fading runes. Isaiah, revealed as Samkiel’s brother and Kaden’s kin, brutalizes Samkiel, severs his hand, and presents the Ring of Oblivion to Nismera. Nismera boasts of secured relics, orders fleets toward Yaegomar, and commands the erasure of Samkiel’s works on this world and Onuna.

Realizing Nismera intends to raze Onuna, Samkiel chooses defiance over survival. Using a final, ancient chant taught by Unir, he burns his remaining power to bathe the realms in silver light and evacuate Onuna’s people to safety, vowing to deny Nismera further blood. Drained to the edge of death, he faces Nismera’s execution blow as she revels in past victories and her coming reign.

At the moment of the killing strike, a decapitated reptilian general’s head rolls into the hall. Dianna arrives, transformed and blood-soaked from cutting through Nismera’s monsters, and taunts the goddess, deliberately drawing Nismera, Isaiah, and the generals away from Samkiel. Her barbs about their weakness and reliance on bindings provoke Nismera into ordering the attack.

As the charge begins, a burst of milky starlight erupts—Roccurem intervenes, blinding the room and disrupting the assault. Nismera, enraged and momentarily disoriented, lunges for Samkiel, but Dianna slides in, embraces him, and triggers an escape as the floor splits open beneath them. They vanish together, leaving Nismera thwarted and robbed of both massacre and trophy.
