As they approach the Guild, Samkiel reminds Imogen how apex predators empty ecosystems, confirming the city’s evacuation as a warning sign. He insists he could always recognize Dianna, recalling why the cafe imposture failed. Imogen reflects on their vow to bring Dianna back for Samkiel’s sake and steels herself to the plan.

Inside, Imogen searches upper floors while Samkiel sweeps below. The building’s lights flicker with static; Imogen feels constantly watched. In the lobby search, “Samkiel” claims Vincent moved the tunnel map, raising Imogen’s alarm because Samkiel had forbidden anyone from touching those materials.

The figure’s eyes flare orange to red and fangs descend, revealing a menace that freezes Imogen. The real Samkiel calls from down the hall, exposing the deception. Before Imogen can react, the impostor, now openly monstrous, grabs her by the throat with clawed hands, dragging her back and cutting off escape.
