Snow falls over Arariel as the city begins its five-week Celebration of the Fall. From the palace, Samkiel sends Cameron and Xavier away to relieve their frustration and watches lights streak the sky, likely Imogen. Vincent and Logan bring a mask for a planned masquerade ball to host the mortal council, arguing that mingling with mortals will calm fears. Despite Logan’s concern about an imminent attack, Samkiel prioritizes learning the remaining components of Kaden’s weapon and concludes the only source is the Book of Azrael.

After dismissing Vincent, Samkiel confronts Logan for secretly visiting caverns using images of Dianna’s stolen map. Logan admits he has been searching alone, driven by love and refusal to leave Dianna with Kaden. Samkiel warns that defying the crown is treason yet refuses to punish Logan, calling him a brother and valuing his safety.
