Overview
Seraphine ambushes Dianna in a bathroom, savaging her over Drake’s death and accusing Dianna of heartless brutality. Dianna goads her and admits to past cruelties. Samkiel intervenes, annihilating Seraphine and her vampires, then heals and carries Dianna. This rescue reasserts Samkiel’s lethal protection and spares Dianna at her lowest.
Summary
Dianna confronts Seraphine in a bathroom mirror before Seraphine attacks, blaming Dianna for Drake and others’ deaths. Disarmed and powerless, Dianna absorbs a brutal beating as Seraphine’s vampires watch. Dianna’s inner apathy toward survival surfaces as she considers not resisting.
Dianna provokes Seraphine, mocking her vengeance and calling out Drake’s betrayal. Seraphine claims she sacrificed herself to protect Drake and Ethan, while accusing Dianna of loveless cruelty. Dianna agrees she is monstrous and declares she felt satisfaction killing Ethan and destroying Drake, intensifying Seraphine’s fury.
As Seraphine moves in for the kill, she suddenly freezes with a silver blade through her chest and turns to ash. Samkiel appears, his silver power having reduced the entire vampire entourage to cinders. He gently heals Dianna’s wounds, checks her for mortal injuries, and lifts her into his arms, adjusting her hold when she warns of glass embedded in her back.
The confrontation ends with Seraphine and her clan destroyed and Dianna spared, underscoring Samkiel’s decisive, protective intervention at Dianna’s most vulnerable moment.
