On the final night of Avery's required year at Hawthorne House, Avery dresses in a deep red ball gown and prepares for the Countdown Party that Xander convinced her to host. Jameson joins Avery in a matching tuxedo, and Avery explains that the night will move through five locations in Hawthorne House before midnight, when Avery officially becomes a billionaire.

The party begins in the sculpture garden with Xander's water-gun game, Hide and Go Soak. Avery, Libby, and Nash hide together behind a sculpture until Nash warns that Jameson and Grayson have teamed up and Xander has a blowtorch. Libby and Avery immediately turn the moment into an ambush, soaking Nash and setting the playful tone for the night.

The celebration moves from the climbing wall to the bowling alley, the pottery room, and finally the arcade. By eleven, everyone is drenched, ripped, and spattered with clay. Private chefs serve elaborate food, Oren lets himself be drawn into trying it, and Grayson privately tells Avery that he is glad Tobias Hawthorne chose her. The group continues playing games while Thea, Rebecca, Libby, and Nash banter, Alisa arrives with Tiramisu the puppy, and Avery grows increasingly aware of the approaching deadline.

With minutes left, Jameson notices Avery's poker face and dances with her while Max joins by video call from college. At midnight, everyone counts down together. Avery fulfills the conditions of Tobias Hawthorne's will, officially inherits the fortune, and kisses Jameson as Xander throws confetti.

At Avery's signal, Alisa turns on a financial news channel, which reports that Avery has inherited more than thirty billion dollars and immediately transferred ninety-four percent of it into a charitable trust to be distributed within five years. Avery reveals that Alisa helped her arrange the plan in secret and has taken a new job with the trust. Avery tells the Hawthornes that they will be invited to join the board of the Hannah the Same Backward as Forward Foundation to help identify the best ways and people to give the money away.

Avery also gives Libby account access for mutual aid and microloan projects funded at ten million dollars a year, then gives Nash the keys to Libby's new cupcake truck so Libby cannot refuse directly. Jameson questions Avery's decision to give away almost everything Tobias Hawthorne left her, but Avery says she is keeping Hawthorne House and enough money to maintain it. Thea observes that Tobias Hawthorne would have been furious, while Jameson frames Avery's choice as the result of a very risky gamble.
