In the car, Madeline explains that strangers are discussing sex with Abigail online and argues that the publicity stunt is overwhelming the cause Abigail wants to support. Abigail insists she wants to raise money and awareness instead of merely feeling bad about suffering in the world.

Seeing Chloe, Lily, and Celeste's fighting twins heightens Madeline's sense of children's vulnerability, while Renata's BMW ahead of her reminds Madeline of public judgment and humiliation.

Madeline presses Abigail about the reality of meeting a stranger for sex, and Abigail breaks down, repeatedly comparing her own situation to abused girls elsewhere. Madeline finally shouts that she is not those girls' mother, loses control, and crashes into the back of Renata's car. In a later comment, Harper suggests Madeline may have rammed Renata's car deliberately before trivia night.
