Bel deliberately sits opposite Rachel instead of beside her, resisting Ramsey's preferred arrangement. The meal begins tensely as Rachel slips and calls Bel by her old name, Anna, and Sherry makes an offensive joke about Rachel's captivity and weight. Rachel then offers wine, Bel provocatively asks if she can drink, and Charlie firmly refuses, revealing how strained and performative the family dynamic has become under the cameras.

Charlie confronts Susan about accusing him of murdering Rachel for sixteen years. Susan gives a reluctant apology but defends herself by saying she believed Charlie was guilty. Rachel initially comforts Susan, then turns on her when Charlie reveals Susan and Edward rarely visited Bel; Rachel condemns Susan for abandoning Bel with a man Susan supposedly believed was a killer.

During the main course, more family conflicts surface. Sherry criticizes Carter's eating because of dance rehearsals, Jeff minimizes Carter's dancing expenses, and Rachel pointedly serves Carter more food, quietly challenging Sherry's control.
