After the disastrous family dinner peaks with Bel downing her drink and Rachel snapping at Charlie, the gathering falls apart. Charlie declares dinner over and leaves the house, making Bel fear she helped drive her father away, though Bel blames Rachel for the chaos. Sherry leaves in tears with Carter, Jeff takes Grandpa home, Susan exits disapprovingly, and Rachel retreats to the kitchen to speak with Ramsey and the caterers.

Bel signals Ash into the hallway and asks him to turn off her microphone. Outside, with news vans still parked nearby and Ms. Nelson watching from across the street, Bel leads Ash into the backyard so they can speak privately. Their charged banter gives way to Bel telling Ash about finding one of her baby socks hidden in Rachel's nightstand.

Bel argues that the sock suggests Rachel took a keepsake before vanishing, meaning Rachel planned her disappearance. Ash counters that Rachel could have had the sock with her when abducted and kept it, warning Bel that this clue can still be explained away. When Bel asks about Rachel's documentary interviews, Ash says Rachel has shown no inconsistencies and has repeatedly described surviving because she wanted to return to Bel.

Bel rejects Rachel's story and insists something is wrong. Feeling urgency because Charlie seems to be pulling away, Bel decides she must get Rachel out of the house by proving Rachel is lying.
