Ladybug

Overview

On a warm March evening, Justin struggles to memorize his Our Town lines while Via coaches him on her stoop. A ladybug appears, which Via frames as a good-luck sign, and they each make a private wish. The moment deepens their intimacy and steadies Justin’s nerves before the play.

Summary

At dusk on a warm March evening, Justin sits with Via (Olivia) on her front stoop practicing his lines for Our Town. He recites part of a speech about time passing but blanks, worrying aloud about remembering everything.

Via prompts the next line from the script and reassures Justin that he will learn it. A ladybug lands on Via’s hand; she calls it a good-luck sign and suggests making a wish, recalling how she and August once wished on fireflies.

Justin closes his eyes and makes a wish. Via does, too. After the ladybug flies away, Justin kisses Via. The quiet, shared ritual settles Justin’s nerves, reinforcing their closeness as he prepares for the role.
