After the bar outing turns into a party at Garrett's house, Garrett realizes Hannah is far too drunk and refuses to go back to her dorm. When Dean starts dancing closely with her in the living room, Garrett pulls Hannah away and takes her upstairs, deciding the situation is getting out of control. In his room, he tries to send her home, but Hannah is exhausted and quickly starts falling asleep, so Garrett decides it is safer to let her stay the night.

Garrett gives Hannah ibuprofen and water to reduce her hangover, then helps her get more comfortable when she complains about the heat. While half-asleep, Hannah blurts out that she might be broken but can still have fun. The comment unsettles Garrett because it suggests something deeper is wrong, but Hannah passes out before he can ask what she means.

Still rattled by Hannah's tears at the bar and by his growing feelings for her, Garrett goes back downstairs and starts taking shots with Dean and Logan. Garrett climbs into bed beside Hannah, but she wakes and begins kissing and touching him. Even though he wants her badly, Garrett stops her, tells her they cannot do this that night, and reminds himself that protecting Hannah matters more than his own desire.
