Back on campus, Hannah decides on her own plan to make Garrett believe she is moving on: find another guy to date immediately. At the Coffee Hut, Hannah spots Jimmy Paulson from class and a past party, but when Hannah asks Jimmy to get coffee sometime, Jimmy reacts with obvious fear and practically runs away. As Hannah walks back through the snow, Hannah notices that men across campus are avoiding Hannah altogether, which makes Hannah suspect something strange is going on.

Near Bristol House, Hannah runs into Justin. Hannah briefly considers asking Justin out, because Justin is one of the only men willing to speak to Hannah, but Hannah stops herself because Hannah does not want to use Justin or hurt Garrett further. Instead, Hannah apologizes for how things ended between them, admits Hannah genuinely liked Justin once, and confesses that Hannah is still in love with Garrett. Justin accepts the apology, and the two agree they can try being friends, which leaves Hannah relieved that at least one unresolved situation has been handled honestly.

Back in her dorm, Hannah keeps trying to support her plan by contacting friends, but nobody is available. Hannah then calls Sean, Allie’s boyfriend, and awkwardly asks if Sean can hang out with Hannah and possibly introduce Hannah to one of his fraternity brothers. Sean refuses and finally lets slip the reason men on campus are acting so strangely: Garrett has apparently been warning them off Hannah. The revelation explains the day’s bizarre encounters, and Hannah’s confusion turns into immediate outrage.

Fueled by anger, Hannah goes straight to Briar’s hockey arena after practice to confront Garrett. Hannah storms into the locker room without thinking and is horrified to find it full of naked hockey players, creating a mortifying but darkly comic interruption. Ignoring Logan, Dean, Birdie, and the rest as best Hannah can, Hannah pushes through to the showers, finds Garrett, and demands to know what is wrong with him, setting up a direct confrontation over Garrett’s possessive interference.
