Coopers Chase begins another early morning, with residents rising not for workday obligations but because time feels limited and routines matter. Ibrahim is awake by six, as usual, before the swimming pool opens, still convinced that longer pool hours would improve residents' health.

Elizabeth arrives at Ibrahim's flat at sunrise, disrupting Ibrahim's preferred early routine of reviewing old psychiatric case notes. Elizabeth has already heard that Tony Curran is dead: Ron heard it from Jason, who heard it from an unnamed source. The reported details are that Tony was found in his kitchen by his wife after suffering blunt force trauma to the head.

Elizabeth tells Ibrahim that the Thursday Murder Club now has a real case rather than an old file. Elizabeth gives Ibrahim a task for himself and Ron: lie to a senior police officer. Ibrahim accepts the responsibility calmly, and Elizabeth makes clear that Ibrahim's reliability is why she trusts him.
