Chapter 102

Jason Ritchie tells Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron that after leaving Coopers Chase, Jason and Bobby had a reunion drink at the Black Bridge. Jason says they seemed to trust each other more than before, but neither could be certain that the other had not killed Tony, or that Johnny Gunduz was not alive and seeking revenge.

To settle the question, Jason and Bobby contacted a trusted source who would also have had reason to help Johnny. The source confirmed that Johnny had come over three days before Tony was murdered and had left on the day Tony died. According to the source, Johnny blamed Tony for informing on him years earlier.

Elizabeth presses Jason for details about the source, Johnny's current identity and appearance, but Jason refuses to reveal more. Jason says he and Bobby only wanted confirmation, and he promises to tell the police if they fail to identify the source. Ibrahim asks why Johnny sent Jason the photograph, and Jason says Johnny was probably showing off and wanted the others to know he was involved.

Jason then thanks the Thursday Murder Club for helping bring him and Bobby back together and for keeping Jason from likely being blamed for Tony's murder. Jason gives gifts to the group: Cuban cigars for Ibrahim, wine for Ron, and VIP tickets to a Celebrity Ice Dance filming for Joyce.

For Elizabeth, Jason offers no physical gift, only a deliberate swipe on his phone. Jason explains that the gesture is meant to help Elizabeth catch whoever killed Ian Ventham, and Ron confirms that he and Jason have worked something out. Jason says the swipe should confirm their theory.
