Finn — Ten

In the afterglow of their first time, Autumn says she loves Finn and asks to be held. Finn, euphoric, confirms he loves her too, but notices Autumn’s uncertainty about whether he meant it and realizes she may not know the depth of his long-standing feelings.

He confronts her gently, assuming she always knew he loved her. Autumn is genuinely confused. As they revisit childhood, Finn cites fifth grade and Donnie Banks’s taunt as proof everyone knew. Autumn insists she never realized he liked her that way and denies leaving him because of it.

Autumn explains she drifted away in middle school because she enjoyed no longer being “the weird girl” and got caught up in popularity. She says Finn’s unexpected kiss later frightened her; she thought he might be “experimenting.” Finn’s perspective shatters—memories of shame and perceived rejection are recast as misunderstandings she never perceived.

When Autumn asks about Sylvie, Finn recounts that he tried befriending the cheerleaders to be near Autumn, misread signals, and, after pressure from Alexis and seeing Autumn with another guy, asked Sylvie out. He cared for Sylvie and feels she needed him, but his love for Autumn was different and enduring.

Finn asks if Autumn truly loves him; she affirms she does, maybe “since forever,” admitting it to herself two years ago. They agree they are together now, joking about the “girlfriend” label. Autumn reminds Finn he must break up with Sylvie; he promises to do it today. They cuddle as Autumn sleeps, while Finn lies awake, overwhelmed by the revelations and their new commitment.
