The Wedding Night — Chapter 64
Overview
In the aftermath of the blackout, guests gather over Will’s body as Femi confirms there is no hope. Johnno emerges from the darkness, drenched in blood and clutching the cake knife, implying direct involvement. Femi tries to de-escalate, shifting suspicion squarely onto Johnno and intensifying the crisis.
Summary
On the stormy wedding night, a small group crouches over Will’s body. Femi, a surgeon among the guests, checks for breathing despite the wind and the obvious chest wound, recognizing that Will is already dead.
As they focus on the corpse, a figure steps from the darkness. It is Johnno, almost unrecognizable beneath the blood that covers his shirt, hands, and jaw, as if he has been immersed in it. The sight shocks the onlookers into silence.
Johnno raises blood-slicked hands that hold a long knife with a mother-of-pearl handle—the same blade used to cut the wedding cake. Sobbing, he faces the group while Femi speaks calmly, telling Johnno it’s over and urging him to put the knife down, casting immediate suspicion on Johnno.
