Chapter 46
Overview
Carl lays out the real objective behind the naga assault: to save Donut and Katia, his side must kill Princess Vinata and the other Blood Sultanate heirs inside Faction Wars. The chapter reframes the battle as a trap designed not merely to storm the naga castle, but to force Vinata to use her legendary escape method.
Rosetta’s investigation points to Club Vanquisher as the likely hiding place behind the sultana’s long-running disappearances. This revelation gives Carl a target but also raises the key unresolved problem: how Vinata reaches the club without detection.
Summary
Carl explains that saving Donut and Katia from the Sepsis Whore problem requires eliminating the Blood Sultanate succession line inside Faction Wars. Tipid and Rosetta identify four necessary targets among the eleven naga participants: Princess Vinata, the sultana known as the Sepsis Whore; two female Ikbal assistants who are Vinata’s cousins; and the male head of Vinata’s castle guard, another cousin rumored to be her lover.
Before Prepotente devastated the naga forces, Carl’s side had planned a four-part assault. Florin and the 103rd and 105th would drive hard through the northern border as a major distraction, while Tran and the 102nd would feint south toward the naga castle and then move west toward Shanty Town, with Boomer and the 106th hidden in reserve in case the nagas counterattacked.
The third group consisted of Imani, Elle, Edgar, strippers, and many sluggalos traveling under Invisibility and True Concealment. Edgar had scouted a safe route to the naga castle, where the sluggalos were meant to trigger chaos just before Vinata returned from the council meeting, allowing Imani, Elle, and the strippers to exploit the disruption. Carl, Katia, Bautista, Li Na, and the 107th would hold position in Shanty Town for the raid’s most crucial phase.
Carl emphasizes that the nagas’ danger lies in their preparedness and cunning rather than raw combat strength. Because Vinata has historically vanished from her stronghold whenever enemies approach, Carl’s plan depends on triggering her escape on his timetable and then catching her. Her recurring disappearances have become a deliberate part of naga mystique and tourism marketing, making this season’s escape especially valuable to the Blood Sultanate if she succeeds.
In a flashback to the flag room, Rosetta explains her theory that Vinata hides in Club Vanquisher. Rosetta cites past seasons when Vinata failed to appear or appeared late because access to the club was disrupted by Mazu’s destruction or a demon eviction event near the temple entrance. These clues suggest Vinata and her guards use Club Vanquisher as a hiding place, but Carl still needs to know where inside the club she goes and how she reaches it undetected.
