CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE: INAN
Overview
Ojore reveals himself as a metal-wielding tîtán and turns on Inan, blaming the monarchy for Orïsha’s ruin. After a brutal assault, Inan briefly paralyzes Ojore, but Nehanda intervenes and fatally impales Ojore with earth. The death severs a fragile ally, hardening stakes and isolating Inan further.
Summary
Inan reels as Ojore halts a dagger midair, exposing metal control far beyond a typical Welder. Ojore declares himself a tîtán and assails Inan with reshaped steel, venting hatred for the crown and blaming Inan and Nehanda for Orïsha’s suffering.
As metal columns batter Inan and restraints pin him, Ojore prepares to kill him, aligning a serrated arm-blade over Inan’s chest. Inan counters with a desperate knee strike and unleashes a cobalt burst that snaps his own arm but briefly paralyzes Ojore, allowing Inan to crawl toward escape.
Ojore rips iron from the walls and sharpens it into circling blades, intent on finishing Inan. At the breaking point, Nehanda blasts in, raises a column of earth, and impales Ojore through the stomach. The metal blades crash to the floor as Ojore collapses, bleeding out.
Nehanda orders Healers and a retreat while Inan stares at Ojore’s body, crushed by the realization of his death. The moment underscores how the monarchy’s choices twisted an ally into an enemy and leaves Inan more isolated, indebted to Nehanda’s ruthless intervention.
