Overview
Pip shifts her suspicion strongly toward Max Hastings after connecting his lies, his hotel photo of Andie, his closeness to Sal and Andie, and his apparent relationship with Howie Bowers. The Rohypnol trail becomes Pip's next investigative focus, as she considers whether Max and Howie may have colluded in Andie's murder.
Summary
Pip reassesses the investigation after seeing Max Hastings angrily meeting Howie Bowers. Because Max has now lied twice about Andie-related matters, Pip moves him to the top of her persons-of-interest list and downgrades Jason Bell as her leading suspect.
Pip lays out the reasons Max now matters: Max is older than Andie, had a naked photo of Andie apparently taken at a hotel, was close to both Sal and Andie, regularly bought Rohypnol from Andie, and seems to know Howie well. These connections make Pip consider whether Max and Howie could have worked together in Andie's murder.
Focusing on Rohypnol as the link between Max, Howie, and Andie, Pip decides to investigate what happened at Kilton Grammar parties in 2012. Pip plans to message former students to learn whether Max used the drugs he bought from Andie in a way that could connect him to Andie's disappearance and death.
Pip updates the persons-of-interest list to include Jason Bell, Naomi Ward, the secret older man, Nat da Silva, Daniel da Silva, Max Hastings, and Howie Bowers.
