RECO 2 enters a cave while hunting Roz, sensing movement and searching with headlights and rifle raised. Mother Bear ambushes RECO 2 from the shadows, and Nettle and Thorn join the attack, ramming, slashing, and forcing the robot down.

As RECO 2 falls, the robot fires the rifle, triggering a collapse inside the cave. Nettle pulls Thorn outside while rocks crash down, the rifle explodes, and Mother Bear is left half-buried with broken bones. Nettle and Thorn free their mother, but RECO 2, badly dented and missing the use of one arm, rises again, discards the useless arm, and resumes the hunt.

Mother Bear tells Nettle and Thorn not to worry about her and orders the young bears to kill the robot. Because RECO 2 is limping and noisy, the bears easily track the robot across the mountainside, waiting until RECO 2 reaches the dangerous river above the waterfall.

At the rapids, RECO 2 cannot cross safely, but the robot continues upriver because the mission to find Roz still controls its actions. Nettle and Thorn attack, and Nettle wrestles RECO 2 until both tumble into the white water. Nettle clings to a rock, while RECO 2 repeatedly slips beneath the current and rises again.

Nettle directs Thorn to use a pile of wedged logs as weapons. Thorn pries logs loose, and after one misses, others slam into RECO 2 and drive the damaged robot closer to the falls. RECO 2 grabs Nettle’s fur as the current pulls the robot away, forcing Nettle to let go and be swept toward the edge with the robot.

RECO 2 releases Nettle and goes over the waterfall, but Nettle is saved by hundreds of fish that surround her, push against the current, and carry her away from the brink. Thorn pulls Nettle from the water, and the bears thank the fish, with Nettle promising never to eat fish again.
