Overview
Isla confronts Grim in the dungeon corridor, threatening him with a stolen knife and urging him to turn against Cronan. Summary
In the dungeon passage, Isla holds a knife to Grim’s throat, accusing him of aiding Cronan’s plan to destroy their world and demanding his loyalty to his people. Before she can force a concession or demand Lark’s feather, Grim reverses their positions and holds the blade to Isla’s throat.
Testing her resolve, Grim presses the knife until he draws a bead of blood. Isla pivots, insisting she knows his values, citing how Grim reformed Nightshade traditions and protected his people. She declares her belief that he will return to himself—and to her—appealing to his identity and their history.
Isla intensifies the gambit by recalling a past intimate moment and guiding Grim’s hand up her thigh. Desire flickers; Grim’s restraint frays as he pins Isla and nearly yields to the memory and pull between them.
Abruptly, Grim breaks away, reasserting control. He warns Isla not to threaten him unless she intends to strike, pockets the knife, and marches her back through the dungeon halls. The encounter reveals Grim’s conflict but leaves Isla disarmed and still captive, her attempt to win him over unsuccessful.
