Chapter 88 — Isla

Isla survives Cronan snapping her neck and unleashes a beam that hurls him through the forest. Channeling every element, she forges radiant armor and a multipower sword, declaring he cannot have her world or her husband. She pours her power into the starlit pool to restore the dead, even as Cronan breaks her restraints and attacks.

Aurora appears and shields Isla, buying time for the pool’s figures to form. Grim hesitates to choose a side. Cronan smashes through Aurora’s defense, knocks Isla into the pool, and drowns her repeatedly with shadows, offering death or mercy if she brings him Oro. Above, his shadows poise to kill the reviving dead.

At the bottom, Isla confronts her younger self and refuses to surrender. Drawing strength from love for Oro and gratitude to Grim, she ignites the diamond shard within her, melts Cronan’s shackles with light, and turns his own lesson against him—sending shadowblades into his mind.

Inside Cronan’s mind, Isla discovers his deepest fear: the Heartblade, a dagger that can kill anything. She surfaces surrounded by versions of herself, binds Cronan, and denounces his crown as a ruin of bones and ashes. When Cronan strikes back, Isla seizes his power instead, forcing him to his knees and shifting the battle decisively.
