Chapter 32 — Oro
Overview
Oro and Grim set aside rivalry to use the Threads of Time. Oro time-travels to founder Horus, who reveals the otherworld is Skyshade and details the perilous requirements to rebuild a portal. This knowledge reframes their rescue plan for Isla, demanding combined powers and a dangerous protective method.
Summary
Grim storms into Oro’s throne room after another failed portal attempt. Oro admits Isla visited his dreams and asked him to stop searching. Tension surfaces over Isla, including Oro’s confession about the desert, but Grim surprisingly accepts responsibility, saying love changed him. They agree to cooperate, focusing on the Threads of Time.
Oro explains he could only observe the past, not enter it. Grim deduces true time-travel requires portaling, then empowers the Threads himself. Despite the danger, Oro activates them, enduring searing pain as layered portals hurl him thousands of years back.
Oro arrives in a pristine throne room and meets founder Horus Rey. Initially refusing, Horus relents when Oro warns of repeating history and extinction. Horus names the otherworld Skyshade and outlines what a new portal requires: portaling ability, massive energy, a living piece of Skyshade, and great Sunling, Nightshade, and Wildling power. He warns the journey kills without a bridge; linked sacred waters might offer protection.
As Oro’s strength fails, time pulls him home. Grim steadies him on return. Oro drops the bloodied Threads and confirms he secured crucial knowledge to build a path to Skyshade.
