As cold weather arrives, a cafeteria table dispute ignites. On Monday, Autumn’s group discovers Alexis’s circle, including Sylvie and later Finny, occupying their usual round table. They bristle but avoid open confrontation, vowing to reclaim it the next day.

Across the week, the groups trade control: Autumn’s side wins Tuesday and Friday, loses Wednesday, and scrambles with early arrivals and visible determination. What begins as seating logistics becomes a symbol of intergroup hostility and status, with each victory cheered and each loss resented.

Finny reaches the table first and sets down his bag at the empty spot, claiming it for Sylvie. Autumn confronts him face-to-face, momentarily captivated by his familiar presence and conflicted feelings, then asserts that it is where her group sits. Jamie arrives to sit beside Autumn, and Noah joins, both pointedly ignoring Finny.
