Summary
At the Waystone, Bast impatiently urges Kvothe to continue the story and asks whether Kvothe spoke with Denna. Kvothe insists he must first describe her but struggles, admitting her importance makes words inadequate. Bast offers concrete details—Denna’s perfect ears and a crooked nose—while Chronicler laughs, marking a lighter tone.
Kvothe counters that people are more than their parts and attempts a richer portrayal: Denna’s dark eyes, fair oval face, and the magnetic warmth of her presence.
