Summary
On a private jet to Prague, Jameson Hawthorne wrestles with pain and the urge for recklessness but commits to caution. He has avoided probing the mystery of his supposedly dead grandmother for over a year to protect Avery and his brothers.
Avery Grambs has disappeared, leaving a note: “I’m not missing. Don’t look for me. The press cannot find out that I am gone,” signed with a lemniscate. Jameson studies the symbol, debating whether it signals love or a coded directive tied to Prague.
Jameson blames Grayson Hawthorne for invoking the name Alice Hawthorne, whom Jameson deems dangerous. He recalls that Prague was where he encountered his grandmother alive, endured threats, and shed blood, reinforcing his belief that the lemniscate points him there.
