CHAPTER 95: JAMESON
Overview
Jameson shakes off shock and fixates on rescuing Avery from Vantage’s ruins. Bowen arrives, quietly commanding all responders, enforcing a media blackout, and revealing a broader plan in motion. He sanctions Jameson and his brothers to join the dangerous search, escalating urgency and consolidating Bowen’s influence.
Summary
In the aftermath of the collapses, medics restrain Jameson Hawthorne on a stretcher as he reels from shock. Hearing Nash Hawthorne’s voice cuts through the haze, and Jameson surges up, singularly focused on finding Avery beneath the wreckage of Vantage.
Jameson fights through responders until Bowen Johnstone-Jameson intervenes. Bowen’s quiet authority halts law enforcement, medics, and search and rescue, revealing he is effectively running the entire operation. He forces Jameson to notice the absence of media and the strategic shielding of the site from onlookers.
Realizing this control was prearranged, Jameson presses Bowen about his purpose. Bowen implies he struck a deal elsewhere, then releases Jameson and authorizes him—and the Hawthorne brothers—to enter the treacherous debris field to search, underscoring both the peril and the precision of the covert rescue.
