Overview
Lyra and Grayson’s search stalls until Alisa identifies the sketched man as Edgar Aquila Reyes and reveals Lyra’s father as Luiz (Tomás) with Brazilian roots. Jameson abruptly returns, uses Alice’s golden arrow to unlock a hidden chamber, and retrieves Alice’s box.

Summary
At dawn in a concealed courtyard, Lyra keeps watch over a sleeping Grayson after a night of fruitless searching. They had traced a tunnel to a hidden garden, uncovered a riddle plaque, and solved a white-walled maze that led only back outside, leaving Grayson furious until Lyra calmed him.
Back in Tobias Hawthorne’s former study, Alisa reports that the sketched man is Edgar Aquila Reyes. A photo reveals two little boys—one resembling Lyra as a child—and records name Lyra’s father as Luiz Aquila Reyes (later Tomás). Alisa adds the family immigrated from Brazil, grounding Lyra’s origins.
A sudden commotion heralds Jameson’s return. Ignoring questions, Jameson accesses a model-train-triggered chamber lined with obsidian and white agate, muttering about threes and suits. Lyra, recalling “Our love was never black-and-white,” prompts “RED,” enabling a hidden panel to rise. A slit requires a key; Grayson offers Alice’s golden arrow, which unlocks a wooden box.
Jameson tries to pocket the box’s lone page, but Grayson confronts him and Lyra backs Grayson. Jameson yields. The handwritten poem from Alice declares she chose love and subtle influence over overt power, hints she relinquished a “throne,” references her mother’s downfall, and evokes “our gloved hands, The Gilded Blade,” implying she acted as the guiding Hand allied with the Blade—recasting past and present games.
