CHAPTER 64: JAMESON
Overview
Jameson, his brothers, and Toby confront Skye to test her knowledge and motives. They discover Skye is pregnant and oblivious to Alice and Avery’s situations, suggesting she is not a current player. Nash reveals his impending twins as cover, and the brothers challenge Skye to be a present mother—or entrust the child to them.
Summary
Jameson, Nash, Grayson, Xander, and Toby visit Skye after two years, seeking to probe what she knows without revealing Alice’s survival or Avery’s disappearance. Skye welcomes the attention and quickly reveals she is pregnant with a daughter, basking in the chance to hold court.
The brothers keep her talking. Skye gossips about Sheffield Grayson and belittles Grayson’s relationship, signaling ignorance of Sheffield’s death and of Avery’s whereabouts. Toby pointedly references the fire and the old man to gauge her reactions; Skye’s curiosity spikes, confirming she has no insight into Alice or the Gilded Blade.
To maintain cover, Nash announces that he and Libby are expecting twins, deflecting suspicion about the real purpose of the visit. Skye insists her daughter, whom she plans to name Skyla, will be hers alone, betraying her old pattern of chasing validation over parenting.
Nash and Jameson confront Skye about motherhood, urging her to love the child more than she is loved and to stay rather than seek favor elsewhere. Skye admits she doesn’t know how, a rare moment of honesty. As they leave, Grayson tells Skye that if she cannot be a mother, she should bring the baby to them.
