CHAPTER 66: ROHAN
Overview
Rohan receives the money Savannah advanced, recognizing it as her definitive break. He returns to London determined to claim power, adopting the surname Nihil. At a pub, Rohan invites discovery and faces Kier from the Devil’s Mercy, disarming him and ordering a message delivered—announcing his intent to take the city.
Summary
Rohan confirms that the funds Savannah promised have arrived almost instantly. He recognizes the payment as Savannah’s final act to sever their relationship and ensure he is done with her. He reflects on her resolve, the mountains she moved to release the money, and accepts that she now hates him absolutely.
Resolute, Rohan goes to a familiar London pub, knowing the owner will report his presence. He cooperates, orders a drink, and deliberately waits outside for the response, hoping for a confrontation.
Kier, a lethal youth from the Devil’s Mercy with seven concealed knives, arrives as enforcer. Rohan notes Kier’s growth but asserts he is exactly where he belongs. When Kier attacks, Rohan intercepts and disarms two knives, demonstrating control and experience.
Rohan reveals that Savannah has given him papers naming him Rohan Nihil—“nothing”—a reminder of what he is to her now. Claiming London as his to take, Rohan commands Kier to deliver a message, signaling his return and intent to seize the city and its underworld.
