CHAPTER 19: GIGI
Overview
Gigi, Savannah, Knox, Rohan, and Brady secure a hostile young woman who arrived with knives and a note naming Gigi (Juliet). A Saint Adelaide image ties the intruder to the parish and possibly the white lily left earlier. Gigi pushes to interrogate first, while Rohan reframes plans to avoid using her as bait.
Summary
Gigi wakes to find Savannah, Knox, Rohan, and Brady restraining an unconscious intruder. Knox reveals the woman came with a note addressing Gigi by her given name, Juliet, which rattles Gigi due to past associations with Zella and Calla.
Rohan explains he subdued the woman because she fights like an elite and carried multiple knives. Knox and Savannah press for identity, and Brady identifies the artwork on the note as Saint Adelaide, tying the messenger to St. Adelaide Parish and the local Musée statue.
Connecting threads, Knox worries someone sent a dangerous operative after Gigi. Brady suggests the white lily left the previous night might have been from this woman, not Calla. Gigi wonders if the captive is the same kind of operative as Calla or part of the same network.
Gigi volunteers to interrogate the woman first, arguing her talent for making people talk. Savannah resists exposing Gigi to risk, but Rohan notes he promised not to use Gigi as bait and suggests this captive could provide an alternative path.
The group agrees to wait for the captive to wake, with Gigi poised to lead questioning, and the Saint Adelaide clue reframing their local leads and the lily’s significance.
