As Avery’s private jet descends toward the mountains, Avery reflects on how drastically Avery’s life has changed: only a month earlier, Avery had never flown, and now Avery is traveling by private plane. The beauty of the snowy landscape makes Avery feel both awed and out of place, reinforcing Avery’s sense that this life was never meant for Avery.

The group lands at a private airstrip and travels in three large SUVs to True North, Tobias Hawthorne’s mountain property. Alisa explains that the house has private ski-in/ski-out access and a trail leading down to the lodge, establishing the estate as secluded but connected to the resort below.

When True North comes into view, Avery is struck by how much more impressive it is in person than in photographs.
